son, you must go to india

niki and i got invited to a friend's birthday party today. she's an american - well, originally east european, but in the US for the longest time. so while we were driving to the party, i said 'would we as kids have ever imagined that we will be going to an american's party in bombay, where all invitees would be from all over the world too?' both of us were feeling kinda proud about it.

at the party, though there were just a handful of people, indians were a minority. it was cool to see how these people have come to india to work (for really good global organizations), how they're finding living in bombay, their little experiences and general feel about the growth in the country. again we were feeling good about it.

after 60 odd years of the british having left the country, there's a slow but sure trend of foreigners coming to india for money and not just to take pictures of indian heritage or poverty in india. this time the story is different though. they're coming to an india that's full of entrepreneurial spirit, full of development - basically on the beginning of what could be a healthy growth curve. this is unlike the situation when the british came to india hundred+ years just to make good slaves of us.

i dream of a day, which might not be too far in future, when parents all over the world would tell their kids to go to india for education and work - just like parents in india have been taking pride in seeing their kids go to US or UK all this while.

india is and will be the country to be in.
