An eye for an eye will leave the world blind!

I saw this one-liner on my cousin's gtalk signature. I couldn't agree with this one more. Especially, with things going on in the world, its absolutely true. Just a few days ago, the president of Pakistan (neighbours) declared emergency. The country has been going through hell. They say, this is how it's been for the past countless years. Maybe, I was too small or not even born during the days of the former military ruler in Pakistan.

Last night, I was discussing the state of affairs around the world with friends. We all agreed that there is no country on earth that living absolutely peacefully. The world seems to be sitting on a shaky rock at the edge of a cliff. A little nudge here or there will have serious consequences.

We all agreed that the unrests, terrorist activities, wars, pseudo-wars etc in different parts of the world must have started for a reason (being region, religion, etc) but then they have all boiled down to being a matter of money. They make people fight, they sell arms to them, they make money. People keep fighting, they keep selling arms and the world becomes a hell to live in.

Seriously, if you try to make a list of all the places in the world that have wars or pseudo wars going on and try to pin point the exact trigger for the war, you will be totally confused. It will make good material for History books. But that's it. For people living it day in and day out, its absolute hell.

I used to hear about 'End of the World' theories in 90's (remember Nostradamus). But then all those talks just died away. But the way things are going today - the way everyone wants an eye for an eye, it almost feels like it might not be too long before we will have to see that day. Sad!

Before I start my post, I must admit that I am not a food blogger. Hence, you may not be treated with culinary adjectives commonly found in a food blog. i love the radio

yes! i am one of the biggest fans of the radio. how many people do you know have a car music system but no cd's, mp3's or audio cassettes (old school) in their car. i am just one of them. even if i do have cd's in the car, they would be catching dust in the glove compartment, because life's pretty simple for me. if there is one radio station that i am hooked enough to, i need nothing else. when i was in the US, i was hooked on to kiis fm (102.7) in southern california - it plays in LA and OC. many people think that this station is too girly and plays the same songs over and over again. don't matter to me. i would religiously listen to the shows on the way to work, and on the way home in the evening. i would know the rj's, the 8:20 birthday game, some reality-type-fake-tears show on the radio in the morning and the works. they say that if you listen to kiis fm for a couple hours at a stretch, you would have listened to the same songs twice. i was still hooked on....

the rise and fall of social networking

Lately, I have been asking people around me questions like "Are you still a regular on Orkut?", "You don't seem to be orkutting much these days?". I get common answers. Most of the answers are like this: "Yeah, I don't get much time!", "The whole world seems to have switched to another social networking site - Facebook" or "Its not cool anymore". For the uninformed or underinformed - Orkut is the most popular Social Networking Website in India and other developing countries. I have been tracking the popularity trend of Orkut for quite a while. Here's how I'd like to describe the lifespan of Orkut so far.
