keep the ball rolling!

so . . . i've been taking a lot of keen interest in my family business lately. talking regularly to them about their progress, prospects, etc. i feel pushy at times, but then i'm sure they take it positively and see that i am genuinely interested in how things are going.

of course, i do not understand their business as well as they do. but i can confidently say that some of my ideas and suggestions are taken seriously and they do consider them. from all the discussions i've had with them, one thing i have realised about small and medium businesses. that's the topic of my post - gotta keep the ball rolling, always!

for a trading company like ours, there have been a lot of pressures of extinction or being crushed by the biggies who want to bypass small players and reach the end consumer directly. however, with the kind of relationship and business skills we possess, it is difficult for the end consumer to let us get eradicated from the scheme of things.

i've realized one thing in business and that is - the harder and smarter you work, the more you will make! remember, its not just harder and it not just smarter. you must treat every purchase inquiry as the most important inquiry ever.

of course, you have to innovate at every step of your transaction so as to keep the customer engaged. but never shy away from doing smaller deals. God willing, if the customer grows in future and you have maintained relationships with them, you will grow too!

so the bottomline is that you cannot keep sitting for large orders or deals. once you start enjoying to execute even the smaller deals, you'll realize how they all accumulate to generate decent bottom line profit for the company. it will also be exciting and challenging to do business. and even before you realize, you will have larger orders coming your way.

so remember, keep the ball rolling, always!
