Private Tutorials Biz gone crazy
I was actually not surprised when I read on a blog site today about Mahesh Tutorials (a private tutorial institution in Mumbai) got funded some God-forbidden amount by a Private Equity fund. The article also talked about how other private tutorials are in the pipeline of several investors.
Ever since I got back to Mumbai a few months ago, I just couldn't help notice the countless ad banners of several private tutorials all over the city. Its not that it was back-to-school season. They seem to be advertising round the year. I even discussed it with several friends that I am totally amazed how these guys have so much money as to advertise like no man's business.
The advertisements would have all elements of a classical and truly professional marketing campaign - branding and all that jazz!
When in school/college, I used to go for private tuitions. But I always thought that the idea is not a very good idea and eventually must die down. However, it only seems to be booming!
P.S: I know I have to continue on my online retail piece I started last week :-)
