i love the radio

yes! i am one of the biggest fans of the radio. how many people do you know have a car music system but no cd's, mp3's or audio cassettes (old school) in their car. i am just one of them. even if i do have cd's in the car, they would be catching dust in the glove compartment, because life's pretty simple for me. if there is one radio station that i am hooked enough to, i need nothing else.

when i was in the US, i was hooked on to kiis fm (102.7) in southern california - it plays in LA and OC. many people think that this station is too girly and plays the same songs over and over again. don't matter to me. i would religiously listen to the shows on the way to work, and on the way home in the evening. i would know the rj's, the 8:20 birthday game, some reality-type-fake-tears show on the radio in the morning and the works. they say that if you listen to kiis fm for a couple hours at a stretch, you would have listened to the same songs twice. i was still hooked on. so much so that i would try and listen to the station online for a while after coming back to india.

while i was in bombay, i felt sad that there wasn't a channel on radio that would play all english songs. not that i dislike hindi songs. in fact i love them. its just that i was so used to the radio station in the US, that it was a little difficult for me to accept the fact that no english songs. it didn't take me too much time though. i got hooked on to fever 104. i would not listen to it very often in the morning because the commotion and noise on the roads was a bit too much. but religiously in the evenings. i knew all the hosts on the channel, all the contests and once in a while i would even participate in the contests. that crazy!

now that i'm in bangalore, i was sad that they have an element of the regional language in all radio stations except one - radio indigo 91.9. and understandably enough i'm hooked on to it. even interesting that it is an all english channel. kinda reminds me of the days of listening to kiis fm in the US. though its not as cheesy as the former, but still its pretty good.

how many people do you know that would keep listening to just one radio channel without switching each time they didnt like the song. i am one of them!
