one man campaign

the above picture (left) - narendra modi - the recently re-elected chief minister of gujarat (an indian state).
the above picture (right) - modi supporters wearing "modi masks" - a masterpiece case of one-man branding.

in the picture above (left) - anil ambani - a billionaire industrialist
in the picture above (right) - anil ambani again- jogging in a park in delhi - an amazing case of one-man branding, i will tell you how!

i totally admire both the men above. narendra modi, against all odds (media and opposition party doing some heavy mud slinging), through his fiery speeches, his very calm yet aggressive attitude, stood up as a brand for his political party and handsomely won the elections in the state of gujurat. he was the talk of entire country. there are also talks of him running for the prime minister some time in near future. totally charimstic!

anil ambani is known to be a celebrity industrialist. he hangs around with a very glittery bunch of indian bigwigs. he is very style and health conscious. now that his power company (reliance power) is coming up with the biggest IPO in the indian history, he surfaces everyday on the front page of the newspaper signing up a deal or for an interview or just shown jogging (like the above picture).

though the occasions are completely different in both the above cases, it's the branding that really commendable. its only if you have the charisma and style (like the above two gentlemen), that you can pull off a campaign on a single man's shoulders. its a big lesson for all marketing folks out there.
